Our Educational Program

The Center’s education program provides students with a safe, secure and loving atmosphere in which they can learn and grow. The program is filled with an array of sensory-and literacy- enriched experiences and materials that allow each student to become independent as possible.

The Center is approved and accredited through the ND Dept of Public Instruction as a K-12 school

Our education program is accredited by AdvancED- Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA).

Areas of Instruction

Areas of instruction include daily living skills, communication, social and leisure skills, fine and gross motor skills, as well as English language arts, math, science, social studies and adaptive physical education. Some of our students attend area schools for part of their educational experience.

• Each classroom has a Special Education teacher, General Education teacher, and Direct Support Professionals to assist students.

• The student-to-staff ratio in the classes averages 2:1, with 1:1 staffing in place for specialized situations.

• Students attend class during a traditional nine-month school year as well as a ten-week extended summer school program.

Community integration and vocational training is also offered at ACC. It is our desire to help prepare individuals (starting at age 16) for adulthood through community-based job experiences, independent living skills and social interaction opportunities.

Education of the Mind, Body and Soul

Education of the mind, body and soul is woven into all areas of daily living, supported by an array of sensory-and language-enriched experiences, and materials, which allow the children we serve the opportunity to express themselves and build their independence. One outstanding example of our commitment to education and life experience is our state-of-the-art solarium. This area has expanded our gardening program into a hands-on educational tool that students enjoy year-round.

Gardening is an effective catalyst in carrying out a variety of educational programming. This enriching program encompasses English language arts, math, science, and social studies, while promoting good nutrition, responsibility, patience and independence.
