Speech Language Pathologists (SLP’s), Stefanie Kaiser and Angie Villarreal, from the KIDS Infant Development Program in Fargo attended workshops from the internationally known Hanen Centre. They were two of fourteen in attendance for the state sponsored workshop that was
offered over the last five months.
The Hanen Centre is a Canadian charitable organization that works to provide parents, caregivers, early childhood educators, and SLP’s with specialized training in the areas of language, social skills, and literacy skills. Their focus is on preschool children, including those that may have language delays or developmental challenges.
Kaiser, who is also the Coordinator for the Fargo KIDS office, referenced the different programs that Hanen offered. “We were able to attend ‘It Takes Two to Talk,’ ‘More than Words,’ and ‘Target Word.’ The ‘More than Words’ program is specifically designed to work with parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders which fits nicely with our parent coaching/natural environment approach.” The KIDS Infant Development Program uses SLP’s for home visits, consultations, and evaluations for children in their program.
The KIDS Infant Development Program of North Dakota is an early-intervention service providing home-based services that focus on the family, free of charge. The program identifies learning opportunities and provides support, instruction, information and resources so parents and caregivers can help their child (from birth to age 3) learn and develop to his or her full potential. The KIDS Infant Development Program is just one of the programs and services offered by the Anne Carlsen Center.
The Anne Carlsen Center provides assistance for individuals of all ages with a wide variety of developmental disabilities, including autism, and medical fragility. Through the care and expertise we provide on our Jamestown campus, and throughout our offices in North Dakota, we nurture abilities and change lives.
