Anne Carlsen Center, Tournament Golfers Enjoy Organization’s 29th Annual Golf Benefit
The 29th Annual Anne Carlsen Center Golf Benefit was held on Saturday, August 6, adding another chapter to the state’s longest-running golf event of its kind.
Firing a gross team score of 52, the quartet of Tom Kenna, Craig Kemmet, Doug Wahl and Cory Wahl claimed top honors in the Scratch Division. The team of Len Orr, Brent Giesler, Michael Nogosek and Brian Meyer finished second with a score of 53.
The foursome Nic Spenningsby, Zach Welding, Katie Eggl and Matt Eggl took top net honors with a team score of 49.9 in the Handicap Division. The team of Dave Barnick, Mike Stoller, Wade Readel and Randy Blaskowki finished second with their score of 53.8.
This year’s tournament was forced to play two rounds of nine holes as wet conditions have made parts of the Jamestown Country Club course unplayable. Still, the scramble proved both fun and philanthropic, as money raised by tournament players and sponsors helps support the summer camp experience for about 25 teens in the state.
Each year, ACC and Elks Camp Grassick partner on TechnoCamp – a week-long combination of access to assistive technology and traditional camp activities for teens with disabilities. This year’s camp focused on adapted art and the wide array of ways campers can unleash their creativity through color.
The Anne Carlsen Center exists as a unique blend of multi-faceted services that help empower individuals with disabilities – and their families – toward greater independence. The Center provides residential, educational, therapeutic, occupational, spiritual, early intervention, and community-based services for individuals with autism and other disorders on the autism spectrum, medical fragility, and intellectual disabilities.
